Calvin Nasworthy Sr, 48, passed away early Thursday, January 03, 2008, at his home, nearly two years after being diagnosed with advanced lung and bone cancer. Calvin won many battles in his courageous fight, but eventually lost the war. He was born January 20, 1959, in San Diego, CA, to Denise Joanne (Fazio) and Jessie Nathan Nasworthy. He grew up in San Marcos, CA, and moved to Brush in 1988. He trimmed trees for Tree Specialists, the City of Ft. Morgan, and United Tree Service until illness forced his retirement. Calvin loved riding his Harley, shooting pool, taking trips to Sturgis, and visiting with his many friends. Anyone who knew Calvin knows what an unforgettable character he was and probably has a tale or two to tell about his antics. He had a quirky sense of humor that will be hard to forget. Calvin loved life. Calvin is survived by his life partner of nineteen years, Mary Michael Montgomery of Brush; two sons, Calvin Nasworthy Jr, and Derick Nasworthy and six grandchildren all of Kansas; his sisters, Val Terrio of California, and Adena Shei of Indiana; brothers, Forrest MacNamara of Colorado Springs, and Sanford J. MacNamara of Indiana, and their families; and his step-mother, Bonnie Nasworthy of Georgia and a host of friends. Calvin's strength, dignity, and grace in the face of the daunting challenges of the disease were an inspiration to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Sanford J. MacNamara Sr., and a brother Jeff Nasworthy. "Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow what a ride!'" Funeral services will be Monday, January 7, 2008, at 1:30 PM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.
