Carl Nicks, 85, passed away at his home near Brush. He was born January 18, 1925 in Limon, CO, to George F. & Cora Nicks. Carl served in the US Navy during WW II & the Korean Conflict. He moved to Morgan County in 1978 to help in the construction of Pawnee Power Plant. Carl enjoyed playing his guitar & singing, and working in his garden. He was a member of VFW #3551. Survivors include his wife, Hope,of Brush and 1 daughter, Carla Lapp of Fort Morgan; 2 grandchildren, Christine Gleason and Daniel Lapp; and 1 great grandson, Aiden Gleason. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers, George, Clayton, Willard, Guy, Earl and Clarence and 5 sisters, Edith Huscher, Cora Rice, Eva Banks, Edna Busaker, and Gladys Barnes. Funeral service will be Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Brush. Military graveside service will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.
