Carl Weiss, 80, lifelong resident of the Brush area, died Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at the Medical Center of the Rockies near Loveland, CO. He was born March 20, 1927, in Keota, CO, to John & Mary Weiss. On January 15, 1950, he married Marie Stites in Denver. Prior to retirement, Carl operated a ranch south of Brush. Survivors include his 5 daughters, Kathleen Zion of Fort Morgan; Faye Weiss of Brush; Carol Schweiger of Merino; Joanne Schweitzer of Loveland; and Donna Beyer of Utila Bay Island, Honduras; 1 brother, Harry Weiss of Brush; 2 sisters, Bertha Ostermiller and Elsie McKay both of Brush; 18 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, 2 brothers, Alex, and Walter; 2 sisters, Pauline, and Rosie Naibauer; and his parents. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 26, 2008, at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church, 1701 Edmunds Street in Brush. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary in Brush on Friday from 4 – 7 PM. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Brush United Methodist Church or to the Cowboy Church in Sterling c/o Heer Mortuary.
