Obituary

Carmen Mary Sierra, 78, longtime resident of Fort Morgan, went home to be with The Lord and joined her husband in eternal life. Carmen was born to Patrick and Mary Trujillo in Hernandez, New Mexico on July 29, 1939.

Carmen was one of thirteen children. Carmen was married to Lino Sierra for almost 60 years. Carmen enjoyed being a stay at home mother to raise her children and later enjoyed caring for her grandchildren & great-grandchildren.  Carmen was devoted to her Catholic Faith & her family. She enjoyed attending her children's and grandchildren's activities. Carmen always put her family first and enjoyed being the heart and center of their lives. She also believed in encouraging her family to see the good in people and encouraged them to do good deeds. Carmen taught her family to never give up on their dreams. Carmen enjoyed cooking delicious meals. She also took pride in keeping her family happy and her home tidy in case any neighbors or family stopped by for coffee or to enjoy a meal. Carmen enjoyed traveling to Central City, Blackhawk, Reno, & Wendover. She was an avid Denver Broncos fan and was also an Elvis Presley fan, visiting Graceland with her family by car. Carmen enjoyed her out of town shopping trips with her daughter and grandchildren. She enjoyed attending all family gatherings and traveling to Salt Lake City to visit her siblings and their families. Carmen enjoyed tending to her beautiful rose garden as well.

Carmen is survived by her sons, Dan and Ron Sierra of Fort Morgan; her daughter, Susie (Heath) Norton of Fort Morgan; grandchildren, Justin (Samantha) Sierra, Summer (Chris) Kraatz, Daniel (Lindsay) Sierra, Derek Sierra, and Owen and Isabella Norton; her great grandchildren, Sabrina, Shala, and Landen Sierra, Patience and Asher Kraatz, Rylie, Levi, and Baby Boy Sierra, Alaina and Adrian Sierra; previous daughters-in-law, Cindy Sierra-Harms and Victoria Riley; her sisters, Frances Quintana of Salt Lake City, UT, Clorinda of SLC, and Mary of Wendover, NV; her brothers, Gilbert Trujillo of SLC, Johnny Trujillo of SLC, and Herman Trujillo of Albuquerque, NM.

She was preceded by her parents, her husband; her eldest son, John; her siblings, Pat, Frank, Benny, Estella, Leesie, and Christina (toddler twin of Frances).

Recitation of The Holy Rosary will be Thursday, April 26th at 7:00 PM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 27th from Saint Helena's Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
