Carol June (Beck) Butterfield, 84, of Fort Morgan, Colorado, passed away on November 2, 2023. She was a breast cancer survivor and was battling end stage renal disease through home dialysis, however, she passed quickly to a heart attack in the care of family.

Carol was born on June 17, 1939 to Myron E. Beck and Sophia "Clara" (Kostelny) in LaVeta, Colorado. There, they had a turkey farm, dairy, and saw mill. Carol and her parents moved to a dairy farm in Fort Morgan, Colorado, when she was 14. She went to Fort Morgan High School and later received her GED. Carol met Melvin Butterfield and they wed in 1955, going on to have five children, Patricia Ann, Sydney June, Glenn Myron, Judy Jo, and Cary Sue.

When Carol had her children, she dedicated her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. Whether that was supporting her children through science fair projects, 4H projects, Cub Scout activities, BlueBird leader, or supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives, she made it her mission to improve the lives of others. Carol was a second mother to many, giving love and support to those far from home or in need. Carol helped Melvin with his thrashing and custom harvesting businesses. Over the years, she also worked for Sears Roebuck, Western Sugar, then found her work family with the Morgan County Shops. She worked as an administrative assistant for the Road and Bridge Department from 1992-2020 (28 years) and enjoyed working with her guys and her connection with the community. She retired at the age of 81.

When Carol wasn't filling her home with warmth, kindness, and great cooking; she enjoyed traveling to the mountains or dipping her feet in the sand on a beach somewhere. She enjoyed a few shenanigans here and there along the way, especially with her sister Myrna.

Carol was predeceased by her parents Myron & Clara Beck; her husband, Melvin Butterfield; her sister, Myrna Loy Graham and husband Dr. Arthur Graham; her daughter, Patty Wahlert and husband Rod; her daughter, Sydney Bowles and husband Roger; and her daughter-in-law, Melanie Butterfield. Carol is

survived by her son, Glenn Butterfield (Coleen) of Waxahachie, Texas; her daughter, Judy DeBoer of Meridian, Idaho; and her daughter, Cary Solberg (Troy) of Milliken, Colorado. In addition, she is survived by her wonderful grandchildren; Chelsey Henderson (Caleb), Dylan Bowles (Nicole), Jessie "Sunny" Hankins (Matt), Jenny DeBoer, and 7 adorable great-grandchildren.

There will be a memorial on Monday, November 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church, 117 E. Bijou Ave. in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Luncheon to follow.
