Carol Elaine Herbst was born May 3, 1944 to Franklin and Mary Katherine (Crowder) Mercer in Flagler, Colorado, and passed on peacefully at home to eternal grace on October 2, 2022 in Fort Morgan, Colorado.

Carol was adored for her gift and love of her piano and organ music talent. She gave so much of herself to the community; she was a member of PEO, Friday Club, taught piano lessons, was a church organist and played for funerals and wedding throughout her active life.

Carol loved golf, music, camping with her family and drama arts theater. Her family was her world and she loved spending as much time with them as possible.

She married the love of her life, Ronald Gene Herbst, July 1, 1962 in Brush, Colorado.

Carol is survived by her husband, Ronald Herbst; her daughters, Kelly Murkins (Derek) and Rhonda Meininger (Dan); grandchildren, Whitney Peterson (Adam), Sydney Murkins, Nicole Binnendyk (ArieJan), Chelsea Cervi (Cody), Megan Meininger; and great-granddaughter Aubrie.

No services shall be held, as the family wishes to have a private inurnment. It is also the family's request for no sympathy cards as thoughts and prayers are welcomed.
