Carol Vivian Livengood was born in York County Nebraska. She was the third of five children of Fred and Edith Sandall. The family moved from Nebraska to Loveland, Colorado when Carol was a teenager. She graduated from Loveland High School in 1942 and enrolled in Presbyterian School of Nursing, graduating in 1945.

Carol married her high school sweetheart, Mel Livengood, on November 25, 1944 when he was on leave from his naval service during WWII. Their happy life together continued for nearly 50 years until Mel died in 1994. Their son, Barney, was born in 1947 when they resided in Denver. The family moved to Brush in 1949 and farmed together until 1994. In 1951, they welcomed a daughter, Diane, to the family.

Throughout her long life in Brush, Carol was an active member of the community. Through her nursing years at the Brush Hospital (1950-2005) she shared in many families' happiest times as well as their saddest. She was a compassionate and skilled nurse, providing comfort to all around her. She was an active member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, serving on several boards and volunteering for any and all events. She was a member of the Brush Square Dance Club for over 20 years, the Bunker Hill Country Club, the hospital auxiliary and the Eben Ezer auxiliary.

Carol loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She liked to travel, sew, needlepoint (especially counted cross stitch), golf, play cards and spend time with the many people she loved. She was the kind of person you were glad to see because her smile and joy were infectious and sincere. She was happy to celebrate her 100th birthday last December with friends and family from throughout the country.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Diane Livengood (Jim Donovan), her daughter-in-law Suzan Livengood, her grandsons Edward and Miles Donovan, step grandson Brian Ibbott (Tina) and their son, Tristan as well as sisters-in-law Lois Sidebottom and Marcia Sandall, and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a vast network of friends and neighbors that will miss her laugh and zest for life.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush, Colorado. The funeral service will commence at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow immediately at Brush Memorial Cemetery. Carol's family cordially invites all attendees to remain for a light luncheon at the church.
