With heavy but incredibly grateful hearts, the family of Carol Imogene (Hase) Mullen announce the passing of our kind, brave, caring, generous and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.

Carol was born on November 5, 1936, in Seibert, Colorado to Leslie and Tillie Hase.  She died at the age of 87, on December 26, 2023, at Ebenezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush, Colorado.

Growing up in Seibert, the oldest of four children, Carol graduated from high school in 1954.  On June 13, 1954, she married the man who won her heart, Melvin Mullen.  They were married for 63 years.

Carol and Mel were life partners and business partners as well.  They owned and worked side by side at their businesses, Mel's TV and Radio Service and later Hi-Mark Real Estate in Burlington, Colorado.  Carol also had part time jobs in Burlington, working in the laundry at Sloans Motel, driving the senior citizen's van and as a rental property manager.   She also loved spending time with her two sisters who lived there as well.  They were best friends.

After living in Burlington for 36 years, Carol and Mel retired and moved to Brush, Colorado in 2001 to be closer to family.  While in Brush, Carol worked briefly in the kitchens at Thomson Primary, Brush Middle and High Schools.  She loved being around the kids, staff and fellow employees.

Carol loved to cook and bake, preparing many magnificent holiday dinners and other meals for all.  Her homemade bread and rolls (including cinnamon rolls!) would melt in your mouth, just one of her many specialties.  She loved all the holidays, bowling and playing the slot machines at any casino.  She enjoyed crocheting and ceramic work in her younger years.  Carol also loved to play cards and Yahtzee with others, especially with Mel, in addition to following him to the many dances his band played for.  Weekly bingo games at the Arbor were always looked forward to.  Winning nickels at bingo was fun, but she was always happy for others when they would win.  All these things in life she greatly enjoyed, but it was when she was surrounded by family and friends that she was the happiest.

While living in Brush, Carol joined the East Morgan County Hospital Auxiliary and the Red Hat Ladies, making many new friends.  In 2017, Carol moved into the Arbor Assisted Living in Brush, where she made other dear friends as well.

Carol is survived by her son and daughter and their spouses, Gregg & Ronda Mullen (Brush, CO), Cindy & Dan Wall (Littleton, CO).  She is also survived by her five grandchildren and their spouses Josiah Wall (Olivia), Dustin Mullen (Nicky), Sarah Wall, Andy Mullen (Lisa) and Nick Mullen (Mandy) and eleven great-grandchildren.  (Isabella, Austin, Sophia, William, Wyatt, Iris, Natalie, Maddy, Frankie, Carter and Alex) One sister, Marlyn Herman (Don) and brother, Bob Hase (Ginny).  Brother-in-law, Leroy Lamb.  Brother and sister-in-law Delmar Mullen (Dixie) and brother-in-law Paul Moyer.  Along with cousins and numerous nieces and nephews.  Carol was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mel and one sister, Aileen.  She will be greatly missed by all.

A private family service is planned for a later date in Seibert, Colorado.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Ebenezer Lutheran Care Center Auxiliary or the East Morgan County Hospital Auxiliary.  Please mail any gifts to Heer Mortuary, 222 Cameron Street, Brush, CO 80723.  Thank you.
