Caroline A Gingras Rice, 89, died early Wednesday morning at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. She was born November 7, 1921 at her parent's home south west of New Raymer to Augustus and Carrie (Nickerson) Gingras. She attended school in New Raymer until her family moved to Greeley, where her father died. They moved to Grand Junction along with her grandmother and her uncle's families because of the dust bowl in Colorado. She married Albert Rice on December 5, 1941 in Montrose. They had a daughter, Priscilla Hope and a son, Terry. When her husband died she moved to Denver and later to Chicago and worked as a secretary. She is survived by her daughter, Priscilla Hope Rice of Phoenix, AZ and a grandson, Andrew Bridge of Los Angeles, CA, Andrew is the author of the best selling book "Hope's Boy", one sister, Adeline Metz, of Grand Junction, and one cousin, Marjorie Crosby, of Ft. Morgan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; her son Terry; two brothers, Charlie Gingras and Francis Gingras and her parents. A visitation will be held on Thursday 5-7 pm at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at the New Raymer Cemetery.
