Casper "Cap" Hergenreter Sr., 87, longtime area resident, passed away on Sunday September 23, 2018 at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush, Colorado. Cap was born June 13, 1931 in Sterling, Colorado to Melgar and Pulgaria Hergenreter.

He was an active and lifelong member of the Morgan and Logan county agricultural community. Cap and his late wife Marlene, were founders of the Morgan Wranglers 4-H Club and led the group for several years. Cap was active in the county fair and was awarded multiple awards for his crops. He and his wife Marlene were avid polka dancers and truly enjoyed the annual Brush Oktoberfest, even being crowned the Polka King and Queen at one time. Cap's strong belief in his Catholic religion and immense devotion to family were evident in everything he did.

Cap is survived by his five children, Janet Monroe and husband Jeff; Casper Hergenreter Jr. and wife Debra; Cindy Musser and husband Tim; Rodney Hergenreter, and Lisa Hergenreter; Seven grandchildren, Shelly Griffith, Joel Hergenreter, Jennifer Monroe, Jessica Harris, Jeraco Musser, Ryan Teter, and Layne Hergenreter; thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother Ralph "Whitey" Hergenreter, and sister Lucille Grahm. He was preceded in death by his wife Marlene, his parents, and eleven siblings.

Rosary will be Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 6:30 PM at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Brush. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, September 28, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Brush. A private Inurnment will be held at Brush Memorial Cemetery at a later time.
