Catherine Wolf Linker, 97, longtime resident of Fort Morgan passed peacefully on April 20, 2010. She was born September 11, 1912 in Frank, Russia to Henry and Anna Elizabeth Hoffner Wolf. The family immigrated to the United States through Baltimore, MD in 1913 and proceeded to Fort Morgan. After arriving in Morgan County and during Catherine's childhood years, the family began farming the William Brandt and later the Clathworthy farm. Catherine started her food service career with RE-3 school district lunch program. She began at Central School in 1948. Later she opened the new cafeteria at Columbine School in 1951. Lastly, she retired from Green Acres School in 1967. After retiring from the school district lunch program, she managed at different times, food service for the Elks Club and Fort Morgan Country Club during the next eight years. Catherine was a caring and loving person. She was known for providing care to family and friends. She nurtured foster care to two nephews and one niece upon the death of their mothers or family turbulences. Catherine (Aunt Kate) was a famous cook and baker. The entire family enjoyed not only holiday dinners, but she was known for baking famous rye breads, rolls, coffee breads and remarkable angel food cakes. Catherine was married to Joe Linker on July 3, 1930. Her husband preceded her in death along with ten siblings and parents. After her complete retirement she enjoyed her home, yard and rose garden. Catherine was a member of Christ Congregational Church. Catherine (Aunt Kate) Linker will be missed as a person, role model and mentor by her nephews, nieces and friends. She had a loving heart, a gentle spirit, and a beautiful soul. She was a role model for living and a mentor to life. Visitation will be Thursday, April 22nd from 9 AM until 12 Noon and Friday, April 23rd from 9 AM until 2:00 PM. Funeral Service will be held at Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Fort Morgan on April 23rd, 2010 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens. Friends may make memorial donations to the Christ Congregational Church in Fort Morgan.
