Obituary

Cerold (Butch) Jones passed away October 1, 2023, in Greeley, Colorado.  He was born February 9, 1939, to Harold and Cereva Jones, in Sioux City, Iowa, where he attended Sioux City Schools and married Bea Parker on October 5, 1958. He was a member of Third Presbyterian Church, Landmark Lodge & Morningside Eastern Star in Sioux City.  Butch and Bea owned and operated Bea's Plants & Gifts, and Bea's Cement Lawn Art, and he worked at Floyd Valley Packing, John Morrell and Missouri Valley Steel while living in Sioux City.

In the summer of 1984, they moved to Memphis, TN. They also lived in Michigan and West Des Moines IA, before moving to Brush, CO. During his career in Colorado, he worked at Old Timer Meats, and Cargil Beef Plant.

Butch enjoyed spending time in his garage restoring cars, trucks, and campers. His favorite past time was smoking a cigar outside in his chair, enjoying the warm weather days of Colorado. He enjoyed many trips to Sioux City, visiting his children and grandchildren. He especially loved his weekends camping and fishing in Colorado and Iowa.

Cerold is survived by his four children, Rick (Sonia) Jones, Laura (Joel) Tasker, Terri (Rick) Birkhofer and Eric Jones; nine grandchildren, Tyler, Nathaniel, Nicole, Justin, Christopher, Nicholas, Derek, Kyle, and William; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Sally Ballantyne, and Kay Jacobson.  He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; and one sister, Betty.
