Obituary

CHARLES RUSSELL BRAGG, 88, longtime Fort Morgan resident, died early Wednesday morning, November 16, 2011 at the Valley View Villa in Fort Morgan. He was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on November 10, 1923 to William & Venitia (Smith) Bragg. After graduation from high school and college, he served in the US Army. He married Mary Frances Talbott in Clarksburg on January 4, 1947. They moved to Fort Morgan from Ohio in 1960. Mr. Bragg worked as a Sanitarian for the Northeast Colorado Health Department for a number of years before working for Public Service as a Water Treatment Operator before his retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Morgan, and the Oasis Lodge #67 A.F. & A.M., Fort Morgan, where he was a 32nd degree mason. He was also a member of the Eastern Star, Shriners, the American Legion, and the VFW Post 2551. He enjoyed being active in wrestling clubs and the booster club with the local school district, woodworking, working on cars, and singing and playing his guitar. Mr. Bragg was an avid sports enthusiast and he especially enjoyed NASCAR. Family time was very important to him, as was attending his platoon reunions. He is survived by his five children, Robert Bragg and Carol Frank, both of Fort Morgan, Charles Bragg of Vernal, UT, William Bragg of Colorado Springs, and Dr. John Bragg of Laramie, WY; his brother, George Bragg of Wellington, OH; 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jim Bragg, John Bragg, and Harold Spiker; and his wife, Mary Frances Bragg. Visitation will be Monday, November 21st from 6 – 8 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Fort Morgan. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, November 22nd at the United Methodist Church in Fort Morgan. Interment with military honors will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan. Memorial gifts may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children and sent to Heer & Dahl Mortuary, 225 E. Platte Ave., Fort Morgan, CO 80701
