Charles "Wayne" Claflin of Brush, Colorado passed away at his residence on December 3, 2024 from his battle with lung cancer.

Wayne was born in Brush on August 7, 1947 to Jeptha and Vera Claflin. He was raised on the family farm south of Brush alongside his 8 siblings.

On February 8, 1975 Wayne married Roberta Martin. They continued to live on the family farm where Wayne raised cattle and worked the land with their son Tony. Farming was not just Wayne's way of life, it was also his passion. In addition to maintaining his family's homestead, he worked for several local farmers as well.

In 1989 Wayne and Roberta left the farm and moved into town. He continued to work for farmers in the Woodrow area until 2000. It was then that Wayne made the decision to change careers and went to work for Graham Upholstery where he cleaned carpets and chimneys. He worked there until his retirement in 2017.

In his free time, Wayne would spend as much time as possible bowling with Roberta and friends. He also loved to play softball and played for the family's co-ed team called "Jep's Kids". Another thing that Wayne rarely missed was his morning coffee with friends at the coffee shop.  Initially he would go to the Woodrow Café and then after moving to town he would enjoy the company at Drover's with his morning cup. In his later years, Wayne would spend his days putting puzzles together and playing games.

Wayne will be dearly missed by his friends and family: wife Roberta Claflin of Brush; son Tony (Leah) Claflin of Akron; grandchildren Courtney Claflin, Zaya Wells, Zephon Wells, and Quinn Claflin; sisters Kathleen Ely, Jean Wiltgang, Pat Turner; and brother Lyle Claflin. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Joseph Claflin, Nancy Harbert, Barbara Cummings, and Betty Gish.

A private celebration of life will be held at a future date. Wayne's final resting place will be where it all began, the family farm.
