Obituary

Charles W. "Bill" Colwell, 90, lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at the Valley View Villa Care Center in Ft. Morgan. He was born May 4, 1919 in Brush to Charles and Clarissa (Markham) Colwell. Bill graduated from Brush High School in 1938 and attended CU in Boulder intermittently for a few semesters studying journalism. He enlisted in the Army Air Forces in 1942 and served as an intelligence NCO at the Fifth Air Force Headquarters in Australia for most of WII. Discharged after the war he soon reenlisted, but served only briefly in Europe. Mr. Colwell was well read, kept up on current events and enjoyed reading, watching television and church activities. Colwell also liked sports of all kinds and especially the local sporting events. Bill is survived by several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Graveside Memorial Services will be Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Inurnment will follow the service. Memorial Gifts may be made to the United Presbyterian Church in Ft. Morgan. The Heer & Dahl Mortuary & Crematory in Ft. Morgan is in charge of the arrangements.
