Charles Allen Schroeder (Chuck) was born on July 18, 1938, in El Reno, Oklahoma, to Marlin and Thelma Schroeder. He grew up with his older sister, Judy. When Marlin accepted a position as an electrical engineer with Martin Marietta, the family moved to Englewood, Colorado. Friends would often joke with Chuck, saying, "I didn't know your dad was a rocket scientist!"

Chuck was a happy, spirited boy with a mischievous streak, often keeping his mother on her toes during his teenage years. As a young man, he worked many jobs, but most often, he could be found caddying at Cherry Creek Country Club. Much to his mother's concern, at just 17 years old—and fresh out of Englewood High School in 1956—Chuck enlisted in the US Navy. He served honorably as an aircraft mechanic aboard the USS Bennett and the USS Hornet, completing tours in the Pacific.

After returning home, the city slicker fell in love with the country girl, and Chuck married Yvonne (Vonnie) Vandenbos from Valentine, Nebraska, in 1961. Together, they raised two children, Melissa and Marlin, in Denver, Colorado. As a family, they loved traveling, waterskiing, camping, and adventures with family and friends.  They were blessed with over 43 years of a joyful marriage.

Chuck built a career as an aircraft mechanic with Continental Airlines, where he also served as President of the Aircraft Mechanics Union. Over the years, his hard work and versatility led him into other roles as well - journeyman pipefitter for Public Service, owner of an insurance practice, and sales professional for both Gump Glass and Rio Grande Residential Products.

Family was always Chuck's greatest joy. He loved and cherished his five grandchildren and their spouses, Jake and Jayleen, Nathan and Amy, John and Danielle, Joanna and Nick, and Kaity, and later he delighted in welcoming six great-grandchildren: Rylee, Olivia, Ryker, Evelyn, Addie, Bentley, and Cade.

After the passing of his wife, Vonnie, Chuck's life was blessed once again when he met Dee Montoya at a widow's group. Their connection was immediate, and together they shared nearly 19 years of love and companionship in Fort Morgan, Colorado. With Dee came the gift of an expanded family.  He was grateful to share life with Fermin and Jeanine and their family, Jonathan and Ruby (and his baby boy Mateo) as well as, Jacob and Emily, and Aaron and Elizabeth. He also welcomed Eric and Katie's family, Alexandria and Isaac, Mary, Jonah, and CeCe.

Chuck and Dee shared laughter, friendship, and countless memories, often spending evenings dancing together at the Fort Morgan VFW, where he served as Commander. He also found great purpose serving on the Honor Guard, taking pride in honoring fellow veterans.

Dee was not only a devoted wife but also a steadfast source of care and strength. Through many years of illness, she stood faithfully by Chuck's side, offering comfort, support, and unwavering love. Her presence brought him both joy and peace, and their marriage was a true blessing to his later years.

Chuck lived a full, rich life. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose warmth and humor left an imprint on everyone who knew him. Above all, his life was marked by the blessings of family, friendship, and faith.

Services will be held on Friday, September 12th at 11:00 AM at Saint Helena Catholic Church, 917 W. 7th Avenue, Fort Morgan, CO.
