Charles Thomas Smither, 93, died March 14, 2009 at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush, Colorado. He was born August 27, 1915 in Henry County, Kentucky to William and Virginia Smither. On July 18, 1936 he married Della Mae Bird in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He served in the US Army and after leaving military duty, he became a preacher for a time. He then moved to Fort Collins, CO in 1961. He later moved to Wiggins, CO and lived there for 13 years and most recently lived in Brush for a little over two years. Charles was a mechanic for many years. He was a member of the Church of God. Charles enjoyed camping, fishing and hiking. Survivors include his wife, Della Mae of Brush, CO; a daughter-in-law Helen Smither of Fort Collins, CO, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Charles is preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter Helen Joyce Smither, one son, Terry Oral Smither, two brothers, Dick and J.B. "Buck" Smither and a sister Juanita Stone. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 17, 2008 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Brush. A funeral service will be Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 2:00 PM also at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel. Interment with Military Honors will be on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins, CO.
