Obituary

Charles Edward Wagner (82) a resident of Tempe, Arizona for 53 years, died November 25, 2024 at his home under hospice care. He was born to Herman and Anna D (Williams) Wagner April 21,1942 in Longmont, Colorado.

He grew up on a farm in Prospect Valley, Colorado. After graduating High School, he attended IBM School. Charles married Barbara Ann Evers on October 28, 1961 in Roggen, Colorado. They started their marriage living in Denver, Colorado. Charles worked for Montgomery Ward for about a year then they moved to a cattle farm near Prospect Valley, Colorado where Charles helped take care of the cattle.

A year later, he was hired to work in the Data Processing Department at State Farm Insurance in Greeley, Colorado. Summer of 1971 Charles was transferred to Tempe, Arizona to help with the opening of a new office for State Farm Insurance where he continued to work in the Data Processing Department. After a total of seventeen years working for State Farm Insurance, Charles became partner in a window cleaning and sanitizing business. Two years later he sacrificed his dream of being an entrepreneur for his family.   It was the best decision he ever made.

He was then hired by American Express where he worked as a Mainframe System Support Specialist and a Software Specialist in Technical Support Systems Management Worldwide. He retired after Twenty-One years with the company.

Charles always dressed in western style clothes from his cowboy hat to his boots. He and Barbara took country dance lessons and could always be found on weekends at a country western club dancing. Charles enjoyed camping, boating and water skiing. Through the years he had fun playing pool, playing poker and Texas hold 'em. He also enjoyed Pinochle, Cribbage and numerous computer games. He was an avid Phoenix Suns fan. The family always knew when he was watching a game, because he continuously yelled at the television.

Charles is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara and their three children: Brian Wagner, Anna Wagner and Barry (Dawn) Wagner. Two Granddaughters Cecyle Wagner and Jaidyn Wagner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
