Cheryl Ann Bates, 73, of Fort Morgan, passed away on August 5, 2024. Cheryl was born in Kimball, NE, on February 11, 1951, to Mary and Virgil Staab.

Cheryl married Larry Glenn Bates on May 29, 1971. They welcomed their son, Larry Glenn Bates II, on April 4, 1972, and their daughter, Cassie Marie Bates, on September 10, 1974. Cheryl lived in Kimball for over 20 years before relocating to Fort Morgan, CO, where she worked in various restaurants and took pride in her cooking. She was an avid bowler who participated in league for many years, and a lover of good food. Cheryl cherished her time with family and friends and adored her five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Virgil Staab, her husband Larry Bates, and two of her sisters, Diane Ikuta and Carmen Ramos.

Cheryl is survived by her son, Larry Bates II (Jenny) of Fort Myers, FL and their 3 daughters; Briana Ellis (Cody) of Lehigh Acres, FL, Cortnee Bates, and Tatum Bates of Fort Myers, FL; her daughter, Cassie Gray (David) of Fort Morgan, CO, their two sons, Derek Gray (Brooke) and Dylan Gray (Samantha) and her great-grandchildren Easton and Delilah of Brush. She is also survived by two brothers and a sister;  Gary Staab of Rock Springs, WY, Virgil Staab of Kimball, NE, and Linda Villalobos of Rock Springs, WY.

A funeral service will be held on August 24, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Calvary Baptist Church in Fort Morgan, CO. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens in Fort Morgan. Heer Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
