Obituary

Chester L. Chiara, 75, Fort Morgan resident , passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at Valley View Villa Nursing Home in Fort Morgan. He was born May 26, 1931, in Weldona, CO, to Chester J. & Burdetta Chiara. Chester enlisted in the US Marine Corp in 1949 and served until 1951. Upon his discharge, he came back to Weldona and graduated from High School. On September 2, 1956, he married Frieda Thiel in Fort Morgan. He lived in Morgan County for 57 years. He served as chief of police in Brush in the early 1970's and then moved to Anchorage, Alaska. He retired as superintendent of corrections for the State of Alaska Department of Corrections. He spent 37 years in law enforcement. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Morgan and just recently moved back to Fort Morgan. Survivors include his wife, Frieda, of Fort Morgan; 2 children, Chester L. Chiara Jr. and Melissa G. Chiara both of Anchorage, Alaska; his former daughter-in-law, Lori Robinson of Michigan; and 2 grandchildren, Julie Evenson and her husband Even, and Sarah Chiara. He was preceded in death by his sister, Katherine Billiard, and his parents. Funeral services will be Friday, February 16, 2007, at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 800 Sherman Street in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary in Fort Morgan on Thursday from 2 – 6 PM.
