Chester Arisborn "Chet" McCoy Jr. Was born to Chester and Mary "nee' Gerih" McCoy July 27,1932 in Yuma, Colorado. Chester and his younger brother Howard attended school in Eckley, Colorado where he met the love of his life (and wife of 72 years) Betty Isabelle Fisher, they were married July 20, 1952, in Wray, Colorado, after only a few short months of marriage Chester was once quoted as saying "I got a greeting from the president of the United States, and We Want you! That was Harry S. Truman. Chet's reply was "I'm ready to go, or else they'll come get me." Chet was given a date in 1952 to report and that's what he did, getting a ride on the USS Marine Serpent to Korea where he became part of the US Army's 213th Armored Field Artillery Battalion APO 264, where he earned a bronze star, United Nations Medal, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Medal, and Good Conduct Medal, during a raging war. Chet was with one of only 2 battalions that used stationary 240mm Howitzer guns, "the big guns" as he called them. After 2 years of service, some in near 40 below weather he finally made it back home to Colorado where his new bride was waiting for him. He continued to serve his country for 13 more years in the Army reserves, as well as volunteering to help veterans. Chester spent a couple years working on and off for the railroad, however after a few furloughs it was time to move on. Chet and Betty moved to Loveland, Colorado where he went to work for the State of Colorado Highway Transportation Department. Chet and Betty were blessed with two sons Mike (Annette) McCoy, and Sam (late Cindy) McCoy, after a few years they moved their young family to Idalia, Colorado, where they stayed for 21 years raising the boys in the small close-knit community. Chester became a supervisor and with the boys grown, Chet built Betty the home of her dreams in Brush, Colorado where they remained until his passing.

Chester retired from the State Highway Department in 1996 after 35 years of distinguished service. During these years he was also a member of the Yuma, County Sheriff's posse, Commander of the American Legion Post # 68 Sagebrush, and District 3 commander for the Legion, and an active member of the VFW.

Chet became a volunteer for the DAV Chapter 41, where he drover veterans to appointments from November 1, 2007, until October 9, 2015, at which time he received a distinguished service to honor his 148,568 miles driven, 3,804 hours volunteered, 713 veterans transported, and 2055 VAVS hours volunteered. Chester was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States of America Post 3378, local honor guard, he was always on hand to post colors at Brush football games, during his later years Chet earned several awards, accommodations, for his service to veterans and their well-being.

He spent much of his time standing on the street corner on the 22nd of each month rain or shine to raise awareness for veteran's suicide, marching in parades, and firing his rifle in honor of fallen soldiers and veterans being laid to rest.

Chet is survived by his wife Betty of the home, Son Mike (Annette) McCoy of Windsor, Colorado, Sam (late Cindy) Mccoy of Eckley, Colorado, grandchildren Brian (Christy) McCoy, Michelle (Jason) Swan, Mark McCoy and fiancé Kory, Renee Donahue, Scott (Dawnetta) North, Zachary (Cyanne) Anderson, Jessie (Katie) Dilka, April (John) Fabian) and Samatha (Nick) Kline, Sister-in-law Maxine Woods. As well as 20 Great-Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  Chester is preceded in death by both his parents, Brother Howard (Dolores nee 'Paulino) McCoy, In-laws Sam and Della Fisher, Selma and Elmer Fuerst, Chuck Woods, Darlene Korf, and Sammy Fisher.
