Obituary

Clarence "Gene" Hudson, Sr., 86, former longtime area resident, died Friday, May 7, 2021 at his home in Gill. He has lived in the Greeley area since 1997.

He was born in Fort Morgan on December 12, 1934 to Harold & Lavina (Wohlford) Hudson. After graduating from high school, he briefly served in the Navy and later began his trucking business, CNH Transportation , which he ran until he began his career in the oilfield. Gene worked as a consultant in the industry for several years before having another trucking business before his retirement.

Gene was a workaholic but his family was always important to him as well. He had the gift of gab, always making it a priority to be social with family and friends, as well as in his work life, which probably lead to much of his success in his consulting business. Besides time spent with family; fishing and camping were always at the top of his list when he wasn't working. His genuine smile and larger than life laugh will be deeply missed by those who knew him best.

Gene is survived by seven children, Janice Munden of Fort Morgan, Harold (& Catherine) Hudson, Gail Hudson, and Joan Welsh, all of Greeley, Christy (& Ernie) Lipe of Gill, Linda Greise of Aurora and Donald Hicks of Salem, OR. He is also survived by his step children, Roseann (& Dan) Mendenhall of New Raymer, Voneta (& Kevin) Unruh and Richard Lemon, all of Greeley; his brother, Richard Hudson of Dacono, 15 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold & Lavina Hudson; his first wife, Betty; second wife, Carol; third wife, Margaret; two sons, Clarence Hudson, Jr. and Alvin Hicks; one brother, Kenneth Hudson; and three sisters, Shirley Kern, Anna Mae Stephens, and Betty Doyle.
