Claudio Lopez, 95, longtime Brush area resident, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020. He was born May 7, 1925, in Rio Hondo, TX to Bartolo & Maria Lopez.
Claudio moved to Morgan County in the mid 1940's and worked as a farm laborer at several area farms, feedlots, and agriculture product companies over the years. He married Helen Celestino in Fort Morgan.
He enjoyed riding around in a car, watching baseball and softball games, and was a real people person. Many will remember him sitting on the North side of the Tabor complex at Eben Ezer watching and waving to people as they drove by. His favorite time was spent with his family.
Survivors include his children and their spouses, Claudia (Gus) Lopez, Rachael Lopez, Bart (Ivy) Lopez, Reyes (Nina) Lopez, Sophia Torres, and Susan (Santos) Guzman; 1 sister, Maria Ochoa; 1 brother, Ignacio Lopez; 10 grandchildren, Matthew, Heather, Anissa, Regina, Candy, Neil, Amy, Reyes, Jason, & April; 9 great grandchildren, Matthew, Blake, Shya, Anabelle, Brandon, Skyler, & Ashwin, Natalie & Nickolas; & 1 great – great granddaughter Annalee. He was preceded in death by his wife, 1 sister, Naomi; 3 brothers, Manuel, Fernando, and Bart; and his parents.
A graveside service will be held Friday, May 15, 2020, at 11:30 AM at the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Social Distancing is requested for the service and the visitation that will be held at the Heer Mortuary Chapel on Friday from 9:30 – 11:00 AM.
