Clayton Melvin Lamb, 80, longtime area resident, died Friday, December 25, 2015 at the Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan.

He was born March 22, 1935 in Eckley, Colorado.

He attended Snyder High School.

Clayton married Ruth E. Miller on October 23, 1954 at the Snyder Methodist Church. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior in 1955.

He was later a member of the Snyder Bible Church.

Clayton was an over the road truck driver. Being a trucker was his ambition in life. He traveled all over the United States hauling cargo. He transported grain products, cattle, pigs, sheep, swinging beef, water to drilling sites, and even zoo animals. Clayton eventually owned his own rig and delivered agriculture products until ill health forced him to retire. He was an excellent driver, and prided himself on being the "best" for over 50 years. Clayton was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for outstanding professional performance, driving skill, and courtesy. He was a contestant in Colorado's "Thanks For Being A Pro" program put on by the Colorado State Patrol, the Colorado Motor Carriers Association, and the Coors Transportation Company, in July of 1986.

Survivors include his wife Ruth, son Paul and his wife Cheryl, grandchildren, Nathan, Shelly and Kelly, Ricky, Cherylnn, Shawnmarie, Jesse, Andrew, Clayton Paul, and Kevin Dean, great grandchildren, Owen, Amberlynn, Gage, Christopher, Michael, Angel, Alexis, Collin, Ryan, Landin, Anna Marie, David, Levi and Jacob, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Clayton was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Pauline, his brother, Dean, and two sisters, Violet and Betty Jean.

A memorial reception will be held Sunday, January 10th at 1003 Meng Dr., Fort Morgan from 12:00 - 4:00 PM.  Please come and share your memories.
