Obituary

Clifford D. Causey, 88, longtime area resident, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the Valley View Villa Care Center in Ft. Morgan. He was born March 16, 1922 in Simpson, Colorado to Sidney and Grace (Bolt) Causey. Clifford married Beverly Schmidlap on November 20, 1939 in Sidney, Nebraska. In 1915 the Causey family homesteaded the place Clifford and Beverly made their home. Beverly still lives on their ranch south of Ft. Morgan, where they farm and raise cattle and sheep. Throughout the years they have also raised over five thousand turkeys. When he was younger, Clifford's family would take a horse and wagon to Ft. Morgan; often taking one or two cases of eggs and five or ten gallons of cream to trade for the supplies they needed. They would usually stop and spend the night with friends on the way and continue on the next day. Causey was a member of the Brush Bowling Association and the Adena Lion's Club. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, big game hunting and playing baseball. Clifford played on the Byers baseball team for many years. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Causey of Ft. Morgan, his daughter, Janice Molloy of Stillwater, Oklahoma, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marie Louison. Funeral Services will be Friday, January 7, 2011 at 10:30 am at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Ft. Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens. Clifford wanted everyone who goes to the funeral to be comfortable, so dress casual. The Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Ft. Morgan is in charge of the arrangements.
