Connie Almeraz, 88, 80 year resident of Brush, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2011, in Greeley, CO. She was born August 29, 1922, in Pueblo, CO, to Victor & Maria Moreno. Connie married Frank Almeraz on July 5, 1939, in Brush. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was a member of the DOES, auxiliary of Elks Lodge #1143. She enjoyed working in her garden and "bargain" shopping, listening to Mexican music, and was an excellent cook and homemaker. She was a loving and devoted, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved her dogs, Peetie and Princessa as though they were her children. Survivors include her children, Frances Vasquez and Virginia Rodriguez both of Greeley, and Martin Almeraz of Brush; 1 sister, Concha Lopez of Long Beach, CA; 1 brother, Martin Moreno of Los Angeles, CA; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; an infant daughter, Vivian, and an infant son, Joseph; 1 sister, Anna Trevino; 3 brothers, Paul, Joe, and Sam Moreno; 1 great-great grandson, Sincere Mendoza; and her parents. Rosary service will be Thursday at 7:00 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in 340 Stanford Street in Brush. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Church. Inurnment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.
