Craig
Smith
Oct 5, 1948 — Sep 22, 2025
Fort Morgan
A. Craig Smith of Fort Morgan passed away September 22, 2025.
He was born October 5, 1948, in Omaha, NE to Robert Russell Smith and Albina Marie Brunelli.
Craig married Linda Sue Hutcheson on April 7, 1969, in Fort Morgan. Together they resided in Fort Morgan where they raised their two sons, Stephen Craig and Michael Alan.
While starting their life together, Craig and Linda opened the Wayward Wind Restaurant and Lounge with his parents, Albina and Rollin Whited. When the family sold the restaurant in 1987, Craig took over management of the Fort Morgan Elks Lodge #1143 and enjoyed the camaraderie with friends and seeing the lodge thrive.
After Craig's tenure as the Elks Manager, his career shifted to property management. He split his time between Fort Morgan and Greeley as Regional Manager for Rocky Mountain Housing Authority. He retired from there in 2015.
Craig was an avid fly fisherman and outdoor enthusiast, (often speculating that his first initial "A" stood for "Awesome"). He also enjoyed hosting parties with Linda on their patio with friends and family.
Craig was preceded in death by his mother, Albina (Brunelli) Whited and his stepfather, Rollin Whited.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Smith; children, Stephen Smith and wife, Conce and Michael Smith and wife, Racquel; his brother, James Smith and wife, Kathy; grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, Kaitlyn, and Yanelin; and his great grandchildren, Brennan, Carrick, and Dahlia.
Services will be Monday, September 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Saint Helena Catholic Church in Fort Morgan with Father Stephen Seibert officiating. Recitation of The Holy Rosary will be prior to the service at 9:15 AM.
