Cristine Violet
Reed
Mar 10, 1969 — Feb 9, 2026
Today we gather to honor and remember the life of Cristine Violet Reed, who passed away peacefully at her home in Orchard, Colorado, on February 9, 2026, at the age of 56.
Cristine was born on March 10, 1969, and grew up in Brush, Fort Morgan, and Orchard, Colorado—communities that helped shape the woman we loved so dearly. Throughout her life, she also spent time living in Sterling before settling once again in Orchard.
In January 2009, Cristine married Dean Allen Reed, who brought stability, love, and companionship into her life and into the lives of her three children: Jerrica Spelts of Orchard, Jessica (Charlie) Bledsoe of Fort Morgan, and Duztin (Ryanne) Spelts of Log Lane.
Cristine's heart grew even fuller when she became a grandmother for the first time to Deon Sanchez—a moment that changed her life. Over time, she was blessed with nine more grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart: Aliea Almeraz, Sylas Bledsoe, Issac Bledsoe, Adysen Spelts, Serenity Spelts, Danica Bledsoe, Karsen Spelts, Kinsley Spelts, and Emmitt Spelts. To them, she was "Momo," the one who made sure there was always fun, laughter, and love to go around.
Cristine had a natural ability to make people laugh and feel welcome. She loved being outside, especially spending time with her potbelly pig—her baby. Nature brought her peace, and sharing joy with others brought her purpose. Her humor, kindness, and the way she made every moment feel lighter will stay with us forever.
Cristine's life was marked by both love and loss. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Rachael Hayes, her mother Janice Hayes Rucker, her father Butch Spelts, and her brother Tracy Spelts. Even through heartbreak, she carried on with strength, resilience, and a fierce love for her family.
She is survived by Cindy Hayes, Jeff McCarthy, Cathy Segelke, Teresa Lanz, and Quincy Spelts, along with her children, grandchildren, and many others whose lives were touched by her warmth and spirit.
Cristine's legacy lives on in the laughter of her grandchildren, the memories we share, and the love she gave so freely. She taught us to treasure the simple moments, to find joy where we can, and to never underestimate the power of a good laugh.
Though we grieve her passing, we are deeply grateful for the time we had with her. We will carry her with us—in our hearts, our stories, and in the love we share with one another.
Rest peacefully, Mom, Momo, sister, and friend.
You are deeply loved, and you will never be forgotten.
