Obituary

Dale E. Aufenkamp, 84, 40 year resident of the Fort Morgan community, died Saturday at the Valley View Villa Nursing Home. He was born March 13, 1922, in Haigler, NE to George & Lois Aufenkamp. After graduating from high school, Dale served in the Merchant Marines during WW II.. On August 3, 1947, Dale married Betty Jane Johnson in Spokane, WA. In the early 1950's the Aufenkamp family move to Morgan County. Dale farmed in the area. They later moved back to Washington state. In the early 1970's they moved back to Morgan County where Dale continued to farm. After he retired from farming, Dale worked in several areas, including building and grounds maintenance at Alco, and later Morgan County REA. He also worked for Morgan County government, manning a landfill station for several years. He enjoyed fishing and watching all kinds of sporting events on television. Survivors include 4 children, Marcia Aufenkamp of Fort Morgan, Cathy Iliff of Denver, Robert Aufenkamp of Crown King, AZ, and Steve Aufenkamp of Kansas City, KS; 5 sisters, Irene Musgrave of Broomfield, CO, Beulah Meeker of Frederick, CO, Agnes Kinnaird of Lakewood, CO, Melba Grasser of Fort Morgan, and Edna Varwig of Seattle, WA; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, and his parents. At Dale's request no service will be held. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary and Crematory.
