Dale V. Hansen

Dr. Dale V. Hansen, DVM, was called home on the morning of October 5th, 2026, at the age of 83. Dale was surrounded with love from his family during his passing and will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life for Dale will be held at 1:00 PM on October 25th, 2026, at the American Legion - Post 180 in Keenesburg, Colorado. His family would love for you to join and share stories highlighting Dale’s life, and the lives he had an impact on.

Dale was born on October 8th, 1942, in Riverside, California to Lula Renquist-Hansen and Lester O. Hansen. Dale and his family moved to northeastern Colorado in the 50’s, where Dale learned the grit and ethics of farm and ranch life. Dale moved to Colorado’s front range in the early 60’s, where he met and married his beloved wife, Beverly, in 1962. Dale and Beverly shared 56 wonderful years together and welcomed their three children, Craig, in 1963, and Shauna and Terry in 1965. Dale graduated from Colorado State University’s school of Veterinary Medicine in 1967, and was an accomplished veterinarian, practicing in Clovis, New Mexico, and later in Brighton, Colorado. In 1977, Dale began work for the United States Department of Agriculture. Dale worked through the ranks of the USDA and retired from his position as Circuit Supervisor in 2002. Upon his retirement, Dale’s most rewarding job title was “Papa.” Throughout his life, Dale was a handy team roper, and instilled horsemanship and rodeo-family values into his three children, and his granddaughters. Those who knew Dale will remember him as a scholar, horseman, agriculturalist, and overall hard worker for his family.

Dale is survived and surely missed by sister, Beneva Hansen, of Fort Morgan, Colorado; daughter, Shauna Smith (Charlie) of Brush, Colorado; son, Terry Hansen (Leighann) of Fort Morgan, Colorado; granddaughters Talli Lane-Schiro (Tom) of Eads, Colorado, Tanaia Bergquist (Evin) of Goodland, Kansas; Tanna and Tasha Hansen of Fort Morgan, Colorado, and great-grandson, Mathias Lane (Talli).

Dale is preceded (and now, reunited) in death by his parents, Lester and Lula; wife, Beverly; and son, Craig.
