Daniel Ralph Stanley passed away on December 4, 2018 at Swedish Medical Center in Denver, CO.  He was born to Edward "Brooks" Stanley and Velma Elizabeth Shapley Stanley on October 1, 1937 in Keota, Colorado.  He was raised on the family homestead north of New Raymer, CO.   He attended Midway School thru 8 ^th grade then attended New Raymer High School.

Dan worked in Wyoming logging for two years before coming back to New Raymer.  He worked for several local ranches before starting his own cow/calf operation, which he continued until his death. Dan was one of the first proponents of improved genetic herds thru artificial insemination.  He worked as an AI technician for many years through out northeast Colorado for other commercial herds as well as his own.

He married Helen Brammer on April 24, 1959 in Stoneham, CO.  They lived, ranched, and raised their three children in the area until their divorce in the early 80's.

Dan moved to the Fort Morgan area and married Sheila (Sirios) Maag on October 1, 1986 in Orchard, CO and raise Sheila's three children from a previous marriage.  They made their home in the Wiggins area until his passing.

Dan was lucky that his hobby and passion was also his lifetime career.  He loved his cattle and horses and rode and took care of his cattle up until the end.  He also loved spending time with his family and friends and visiting over coffee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, oldest brother Gilbert, and son Chad Maag.  He is survived by his wife Sheila, children Mike Stanley (Peggy) of Westminster, Sammie Jo Honstead (Lary) of Sterling, James D. Stanley (Suzanne) of Greeley, Michelle (Maag) Pape and Wendy (Maag) Blake (Rocky) both of Wiggins, brothers Marion (Vi) of King City, CA, Bernard (Betty) of Bridgeport, NE, Clayton (Margaret) of Greeley, CO, Marvin of Sterling, CO, , sisters Roberta Stanley of Denver, CO, Edith Schwenn of Gettysburg, SD, Mildred Fisher of Litchfield, NE, Mary Allred (Rex) of Rangeley, CO, Carolyn Hughes (Dave) of New Raymer, CO and Judy Kummer (Fred) of Yuma, AZ, sister in-law Joan Stanley of Waukee, IA, 24 grandkids and spouses, 19 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and his ex-wife Helen Stanley of Greeley, CO.

Dan is greatly loved and will be missed by all.

Memorial Services will be held Friday, December 14, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Long Meadow Event Center, 8604 Co. Rd. 6, South of Wiggins, CO, with services concluding there.  In lieu of a memorial fund, please donate to your favorite charity.
