Obituary

Darla J. Parrish, 71, longtime area resident, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Brush, Colorado. Darla was born August 24, 1941 to Victor and Wretha Neefe in Fairfield, Illinois. She married Alvin Parrish on July 29, 1960 in Fort Morgan, Colorado. After they were married, Darla attended beauty school in Greeley, Colorado. Darla and Alvin were collectors of antiques. They owned and operated an antique store in Yuma for several years and in 1990, they became owners and operators of Parrish Antiques in Brush. Darla enjoyed Indian artifacts, photography, and she loved big "blingy" jewelry. She also liked to crochet and cook and enjoyed being with her family. Darla is survived by her husband, Alvin, of Fort Morgan; sons, Dale (Debbie) Parrish of Brush and Jim (Barb) Parrish of Wiggins; daughters, Leandra Parrish (Dennis) of Otis, Colorado and Cindi (Greg) Frank of Commerce City, Colorado; sister, Donna (Walter) Amack of Brush; nine grandchildren, Melissa Parrish, Victor Parrish, Reba Parrish, Chace Headley, Quinn Parrish, Joe Parrish, Adam Parrish, Tiffany Parrish and Ashleigh Frank and two great grandchildren, Arianna and Tyler James Parrish. Darla is preceded in death by her parents, son, Shaun and a brother, Edward Neefe. There will be a gathering to celebrate Darla's life at 731 Warner in Fort Morgan on June 22, 2013 from 12:00 until 4:00. Memorial gifts may be given in Darla's name to als.org.
