Darlene Joy Araujo, 74, longtime area resident, passed away peacefully at her home in Ft. Morgan on Thursday, November 3rd, 2011. Darlene, the daughter of Willard and Emma Steinshouer, was born October 23rd, 1937 in Alma, NE. Her family moved to Colorado, where she attended school in Wiggins, CO. It was there she met and married Leo Araujo. In 1967, they moved their family to Orange County, CA and resided there until after the passing of her husband in 1995 Darlene then moved back to Morgan County. She worked several years for the Alco stores. Darlene enjoyed family gatherings, crossword puzzles, reading, embroidering, gardening and her dog, Lady. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Emma Steinshouer, infant brother, Larry, and her husband, Leo. A loving mother and grandmother leaves behind her five children, Deb Celestino and husband Gilbert, Timothy Araujo and wife Donna M, and Terri Stroberg-Araujo all of Ft. Morgan, Rick Araujo of Bakersfield, CA, and Robert Araujo and wife Donna L.of Brush, her brother, Burton Steinshouer who lives in Mississippi, 21 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, November 8th from 2 until 8 pm at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. After the visitation her body will cremated. Memorial Services will be Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 10:30 am at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Ft. Morgan. Burial of her cremains will follow in Memory Gardens.
