Darrell J. Beckley, 86, passed away early Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at his home in Brush. He was born July 6, 1926, in Salinas, CA, to Paul & Mary Elizabeth Beckley. Darrell served in the US Navy from 1944 until 1947. Upon his discharge he enrolled at the Colorado School of Mines where he received his degree in Petroleum Engineering. In 1950, Darrell joined the US Army where he served as an officer until his discharge in 1958. On August 29, 1951, Darrell married Janice L. White in Denver. In 1958, the Beckley family moved to Brush, where Darrell continued his engineering profession in the oil & gas exploration industry. Darrell was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brush. Darrel and Jan were very involved in the Catholic Church, serving as leaders in the marriage enrichment classes for the Archdiocese of Denver for several years. After retiring, they became resident managers of the Arbor Living Center at Eben Ezer, where they served for 7 years. He also served as a volunteer for the Caring Ministries of Morgan County. A former member of Bunker Hill Country Club, Darrell enjoyed playing golf. Survivors include his 11 children, Patricia Cummings of Santa Rosa, CA, Julie Castle, John Beckley and Teresa Young, all of Greeley, Kathleen Chastain of Alamogordo, NM, Paul Beckley of Edwardsville, IL, Nancy Wilkinson of Cottondale, TX, Michael Beckley of Oklahoma City, OK, Robert Beckley of Altamont, IL, Mary Cummings of Brush, and Thomas Beckley of Phoenix, AZ; 1 brother, Ronald of Las Vegas, NV; 33 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jan; 3 brothers, Ken, Jack and Milton; 1 sister, Peggy Hauck, and his parents. Mass of Christian Burial for Darrell Beckley will be Tuesday, September 4, at 11:00 AM. A Rosary will be recited at 10:30 AM. All services will be at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brush. The service will conclude at the church. A private, family inurnment will be in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center or to Caring Ministries of Morgan County, both c/o Heer Mortuary.
