Darwin George Helzer, "Fritz", 86, of Fort Morgan, CO, passed away Thursday June 18 at his home south of Fort Morgan. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 1, at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Fritz was born February 26, 1929 to Henry and Christina (Hahn) Helzer. Fritzspent much of his life farming, and was Supervisor for the Morgan Ditch for several years prior to his retirement. Fritz married Dorothy Marie Hart on June 14, 1954 in Raton, New Mexico. Surviving Fritz are his sons, Kenneth Helzer, of Fort Morgan, CO and Dusty Helzer, of Pearce, CO, his daughter, Tammy Helzer and her husband Russ De Riso of Snowflake, AZ; sisters, Leulla and her husband, Herman Kauffman, of Gilcrest, CO and Ruth Rein of Briton, CO; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Dorothy (Hart) Helzer, Fritz's beloved wife for over 50 years preceded him in death. Also his parents and brothers: Willard Helzer, Russell "Bud" Helzer, and Bernette "Bert" Helzer preceded himin death.
