Obituary

David Andersen, 90, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019, at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. He was born August 16, 1928, in Limon, CO, to A.B. and Lucy Andersen.

Dave spent his youth on the Hillside Dairy, working alongside his parents and siblings.  He graduated from Limon High School in 1946.  He married Beverley Spaid, his high school sweetheart, on March 1, 1946.  While living in Limon, Dave was a member of the Chapel of Resurrection Episcopal Church, served on the Limon Town Council for 8 years, was president of the Limon Rotary Club in 1958, served as a boy scout leader and Scout Master, and was a member of the Limon Fire Department, serving as Fire Chief from 1964 – 1969.  He & Bev served as class sponsors for several classes at Limon High School.  He enjoyed dancing, bowling, and playing golf.  In 1969 the Andersen family moved to Brush where they owned /operated Andersen Chevrolet car dealership.  After retiring from the car dealership, Dave owned / operated Dave's Gas & Lube Stop.  While living in  Brush Dave & Bev were members of St. Charles Episcopal Church in Fort Morgan.  He was an avid fan and supporter of Limon & Brush High School Athletics and received the HDR award from the Brush Booster Club.  He was also a sponsor for many local recreation programs.  He could often be seen lining the ball fields in Brush or transporting the Limon Badger mascot in the trunk of his car.

Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Beverley; 3 children, Susan (Steve) Dyer, Dale (Diana) Andersen, and Dwight (Esther) Andersen; 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, one brother, Richard Andersen and one sister, Marguerite Knadle.  He was preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters and his parents.

A memorial service celebrating the life of this well loved man will be held at St. Charles Episcopal Church on Thursday, January10, 2019, at 11:00 AM.  Inurnment will be in the Brush Memorial Cemetery following a reception at the church.  The Heer Mortuary & Crematory is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
