David W. Baker, 72, longtime Morgan County resident, passed away suddenly at his home in Brush on Friday, January 25, 2019.  He was born November 5, 1946 in Holyoke, CO to Willis & Gwendolyn Baker.

Dave graduated from Wiggins High School in 1965.  On January 10, 1966, he was inducted into the US Marine Corps.  After serving in Viet Name, he was honorably discharged on December 5, 1967 and served in the US Marine Corps reserves until 1972.  On July 25, 1969, Dave married Peggy Homeburg in Brush.

Dave worked for the City of Brush for over 42 years and retired as the Public Works Director.

Dave served as a volunteer fireman with the Brush Fire Dept for 20 years, retiring December 27, 1999.  He enjoyed camping and fishing.  His favorite activity was spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife Peggy of Brush; 2 sons, Michael (Charity) Baker of Hillrose and Robert (Judy) Baker of Brush; his sisters & brothers, Sonya (Joe) Burger of Spokane, WA; Robert (Sandy) Baker of Brush; Ronald (Barbara) Baker of Wiggins; Benjamin Baker of Ault, CO; and Daralis (Rocky Dyer) Baker of Greeley, CO; and his grandchildren, David A., Bryce, Megan, Madisen, and Avary.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be Friday, February 1, 2019, at 11:00 AM at the Brush United Methodist Church, 1701 Edmunds Street.  Interment with military honors by the US Marine Corps, the Patriot Guard, and fire dept honors by the Brush Volunteer Fire Dept will follow at the Brush Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary in Brush on Thursday from 4 - 6 PM.  Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Fallen Fireman Fund c/o the Heer Mortuary.
