David Scott
Bates
Mar 21, 1955 — Dec 18, 2023
David Scott Bates, "A True American Patriot," passed away December, 18, 2023. He believed in our Constitution and everything America stands for. After graduating from high school David joined the US Navy and served a 4 year term. While serving his term he was awarded two Navy "E" ribbon acknowledgments as a sharpshooter for .45 pistol and M-14 rifle along with a sea service medal. David's position while on the "carrier" ship was "gunner," where the life expectancy during wartime was 3 minutes. David always fought for what was right and just. After being honorably discharged, David soon took up a career with Public Service later known as Xcel Energy where he eventually retired as an Electrician Specialist. He also worked as a volunteer at the Hillrose Fire Department and as a first responder. David enjoyed helping people. David had many hobbies such as sky diving, guitar playing, woodworking where he customized some beautiful wooden frames for people along with miscellaneous projects. He also enjoyed auto body work and painting. But his favorite and most passionate hobby was fly fishing. He enjoyed meeting up with his brother Jim to see who could hook the biggest fish. He would often say how he would loved to have taught the art of fly fishing and how to make the bait hooks. David said that sitting on the riverbank was his church where he would connect with GOD and find his peace.
David now joins his brother Jimmy and his mother Marthena (Skeeter). He leaves behind his sister Sherrie and her daughters Lacie Ocana (Jonathan) and Lauren Ables; Sister-in-law Christine Carter; nieces, Melissa Carvell (John) and Cynthia Kerr (Jeff); along with great nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.
You will be greatly missed until we meet again, David, but we know in our hearts you are finally in the presence of our Lord Jesus. WE LOVE YOU!!!
A memorial service will be held for David Sunday, June 23, 2024 at 2:30 PM at the JC Building in Brush, 420 Ellsworth St. Brush, CO. Please RSVP to Sherrie Leonard, sherrieleonard99@yahoo.com
