David John Keefe, 82, longtime area resident, died Friday, November 30, 2018.

He was born April 1, 1936 in Grand Forks, ND to Edward R. & Kathleen Marie (Norton) Keefe. He grew up in a large family on a farm in Minnesota. Dave would say that he preferred farming with a horse and plow over a tractor, as you can talk to a horse, you can't talk to a tractor.

Dave enlisted in the Air Force in 1954, serving four years before his honorable discharge. He worked for the Grand Forks Herald before moving his family to Westminster, CO where he worked for The Denver Post. In 1977 the family moved to Fort Morgan where Dave began his career in the insurance business, working as an agent for over 35 years.

Dave enjoyed camping and fishing. He was especially fond of horses.

He is survived by his daughters, Ann Marie Jones and Kathleen Meyer and husband, Don; daughter-in-law, Angie Keefe; sisters, Elsie Marie Bateman, Sister Mary Gertrude Keefe, and Veronica LaCoursiere; brothers, Bernard Keefe and Richard Keefe, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Joseph Keefe; three brothers, Daniel, Cecil, and Donald Keefe; and his grandson, Josh Sewald; and a son that died in infancy.

At Dave's request, there will not be any services. Inurnment will be in the family plot in Saint Anthony's Cemetery in Terrebonne, MN at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of The Plains or to the Alzheimer's Association in care of Heer Mortuary, 225 E. Platte Ave., Fort Morgan, CO.
