David Lee Baker, age 74 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Valley View Villa in Fort Morgan.  He was born in Gregory County South Dakota, known as Star Valley, on November 16, 1946 to David Sunday Baker and Viola Ora Zobrist Baker. He and his siblings Keith, Lavonne, Lila Jean and Judy moved to nearby Butte Nebraska where they were raised on the family farm. David attended school in Spencer Nebraska from 8 ^th grade on.

In 1967, David married Patricia Keffee and together they were blessed with a  daughter, Amy Baker Vanderhoef and sons, Brian Baker and Jeffrey Baker.

David moved to Colorado in 1992, where he worked hard as a laborer at many different jobs. He was dedicated to them all, but his favorite job was as a vendor at the Rockies baseball games. David lived as a man of integrity and kindness. He gave of himself generously to the homeless and disadvantaged but his true passion was helping others recover from alcoholism. Sobriety was his absolute priority and he walked the 12 step program like few others. His words and example impacted many in the Fort Morgan community. He often stated "I lived life one day at a time for twenty nine years".  David loved the Lord and was grateful for his salvation.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Viola and David; his brother, Keith ; and sisters, Lila Jean Ping, and Judy Schulte.

He is survived by his sister, Lavonne Ullrich; his children, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

His sense of humor, kindness and ready smile will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Prairie Winds Foursquare Church in Wiggins.

David asked that his ashes be spread on the farm he grew up on in Nebraska. Donations to help cover cremation costs may be sent to Heer Mortuary at 225 East Platte Avenue, Fort Morgan, CO 80701
