David (Dave) Baker Lenox, 91 years old, passed away peacefully in his Fort Morgan, Colorado home on April 16, 2016. He was born April 9, 1925 in Hillrose, CO, to David and Fannie Lenox. He left Akron at the young age of 17 to join the Navy, and served admirably in the Pacific Campaign during WWII aboard the ammunition ship USS Rainer. As a proud veteran, he attended yearly reunions with his shipmates all over the country throughout the past thirty years.
Following the war, Dave met Frances Puccini in Indiana, where they married on July 30, 1948 before moving to Fort Morgan to begin their life together. Dave worked in the auto body and lumberyard trades in several locations in northeastern Colorado and Nebraska before returning to settle in Fort Morgan, working in construction and homebuilding with Graff Homebuilders and Schmeeckle Bros. Construction until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Frances; seven daughters and a son, Betty Duncan of Ft. Collins, CO, Karen (Robert) Culver of Broomfield, CO, Judy (Ted) Giacomini of Sterling, CO, Roselyn Hilbert of Ft. Collins, CO, Wanda Lenox of Fountain, CO, Darlene (Hal) Anderson of Colorado Springs, CO, Patricia (Scott) Galassini of Littleton, CO, David (Julie) Lenox of Sterling, CO; seventeen grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Dave is preceded in death by his brother, Joseph "Neal" Aspey, his sister, Sugene Littlefield, and a grandchild, Nicole Wilson.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of the Plains staff for the outstanding care Dave was given during his final battle in life, and asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of the Plains, Inc.,100 Broadway, Suite 1-A, Sterling, Co 80751 .
A memorial service with full military honors will be held Thursday April 21, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Heer Mortuary Chapel, 225 E. Platte Ave., Fort Morgan, Colorado.
