Obituary

David John Pape, 93, longtime area resident, died Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the Valley View Villa Care Center in Fort Morgan.

He was born May 25, 1923 in Alta Vista, Kansas to Henry and Minnie (Kalley) Pape.

David who his friends called "Red" served in the Army from May 1946 until his Honorable Discharge in February of 1949. He served as an MP in both Germany and Korea. He then moved to Colorado from his boyhood home in Kansas to follow a career in the oilfield.

Red married Shirley Owl on February 23, 1954 and made their home in Fort Morgan where they raised four children. Together they established D&S Oilfield Production Services, which he operated for many years and as his sons came of age they joined the business.

Red's favorite pastimes were fishing, and "going up the hill" (Blackhawk), and time with his family. His beloved wife Shirley passed away on April 23, 2011, they had shared 57 years together.

Survivors include his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren: Linda Carlson (Tom), of Fort Morgan, and their children, Scott Carlson and son, Jackson, Ryan Carlson (Erin) and their sons Cyrus and Tiptin; Justin Carlson (Amy) and their daughters, Jayden, Ava, Caleigh, and Reagan; Roger Pape (Sandy) of Fort Morgan and their children, Logan Pape, Garrett Pape, and Farin Musgrave (Tim) and their children Lane and Maci; Terry Pape (Barb) of Bennett, CO, and their children, Jessica Lancaster (Josh) and their children, Danika and Colton; David Pape (Kristen) and their sons, Cash, Kade, and Landen; Jay Pape (Mary Pat) and their children, Lucas Pape, Jacob Pape (Marie), Jordan Patterson (Jesse) and their daughter, Jayce; son and daughter Rod Farrar of Longton, Kansas, and Denzel Wright of Springdale, Arizona, and his devoted companion/caretaker Elaine Edwards.

David was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, brothers, Walter and JR Pape , his twin brother, Dan, sister, Henrieta Gregg, and his parents.

Memorial Services will be Monday, October 3, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Serenity Falls Columbarium in Fort Morgan
