David Wilson Russell, 71, longtime area resident, died, Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. David was born June 8, 1936 in Omaha, Nebraska to William and Helen (Pope) Russell. He moved to the Brush area about 40 years ago from Nebraska. David married Bertha Polk on July 8, 1968 in Sterling, Colorado. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ft. Morgan. David enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles and was an avid reader and bible student. Survivors include his wife, Bertha of Brush and children; Randy Russell of Denver, Sheila Kulhanek of York, Nebraska, Sandra Killian of Gainesville, Florida, Glenda Owens of Lakeland, Florida, Johnny Russell of Columbia, Missouri, Ricky Russell of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Danny Kersey Russell of Larimore, North Dakota, and Larry Russell of Lincoln Nebraska. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and by a half-sister, Judy Bednarz of Kearney, Nebraska and two half-brothers, Bill Breinig of Maxwell, NE and Kenneth Breinig of Loomis, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Allen Donald Russell. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 16, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the First Baptist Church in Fort Morgan. Inurnment will follow at the Columbarium in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Heer Mortuary & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
