David Velasquez, 64, of Fort Morgan, died early Sunday, January 31, 2016 at his home after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born December 4, 1951 in Pecos, TX to Robert & Trine Velasquez. David lived and worked in Texas until his job transferred him to Fort Morgan. He has been a Superintendent with Cargill Meat Solutions in Fort Morgan for the last 16 years.
He married Lorena Guadalupe in Fort Morgan on February 22, 2005.
David enjoyed playing golf, especially in tournaments with his work. He also enjoyed collecting classic model cars and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Lorena Velasquez; and his son, Jason Velasquez, both of Fort Morgan; his daughter, Jessica Velasquez of San Antonio, TX; and his son, Joe David Alanis of Fremont, TX; his three brothers, Charlie Velasquez and Thomas Velasquez, both of San Angelo, TX, and Arturo Martinez of Monahans, TX; his parents, Robert & Trine Velasquez of San Angelo, TX; and his grandchildren, Evan, Alissa, and Briana.
David was preceded in death by his son, Abel Velasquez.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, February 3rd at 10:00 AM at Saint Helena's Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. The service will conclude at the church.
Concluding services will be in Texas at a later date.
