David R. Weimer, 87, Life long Ft. Morgan resident,died Friday evening at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. He was born July 29, 1921 in Ft. Morgan to Henry and Amelia (Hellmuth) Weimer. He married Helen Gehrig December 26, 1948 in Raton, New Mexico. They made their home in the Ft. Morgan area where David farmed for many years. In 1971 he began working for the Sturgeon Electric Company and later retired from the Company. He was a member of the Christ Congregational Church, the Elks Lodge, the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers of America. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, big game hunting, hunting arrowheads, gardening and traveling. He is survived by his wife Helen of Ft. Morgan, his daughter Kathryn Wagner of Ft. Morgan, his son Jonathan Weimer of Walla Walla, Washington, one brother, Harold Weimer of Ft. Morgan, 10 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Emma Bauer, and Leona Weimer, 3 brothers, Henry Jr., Carl, and Edward Weimer and his parents. A visitation will be held on Tuesday 2-5 pm at the Heer Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 am at the Heer Mortuary Chapel, Interment will follow at the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Ft. Morgan.
