Obituary

Oliver "Dean" Metzler was born on May 14th, 1949. He was the first of three sons to Ben and Sue Metzler of Yuma. He was a football and track star for the Indians before marrying and have three kids, Ben, Becky and Brenton.  His second marriage to his soulmate Linda brought him three more children April, Brian and Spike. He was dad to a family and hero to his kids.

His proudest accomplishment may have been being a Papa, the term lovingly given to him by his 11 grandkids and his 12 great-grandkids.  He had incredible respect for the criminal justice system and worked as an investigator for the Colorado Public Defenders Office for more than 20 years. He was a farmer, a drag racer, a father, an athlete, Uncle Dean, a board member, a city councilman, a Papa and most cherished of his roles was a devoted and doting husband to a wonderful woman for almost 40 years. He joined God's kingdom on December 14th, 2025, and was most certainly met by his in-laws Ted and Jo Graff and his parents as he approached the gates. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His booming voice will carry through our memories, and his spirit will watch over us all.

Services will be held at a later date when we can celebrate his life rather than mourn his death. We will update all those who want to say goodbye as the date solidifies.
