Obituary

DELBERT D CASTOR, 85, lifelong area resident, died Thursday, July 2, 2009 at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. He was born November 17, 1923 at his grandparents home in Fort Morgan to Harry & Mary (Laier) Castor. He attended school in Buckingham until graduating from New Raymer High School in 1941. He enlisted in the Army/Air Force in Fort Logan on March 6, 1944. He served his country in WWII on a B 24 Bomber as a tailgunner in Italy. He was a Corporal at the time of his honorable discharge on November 28, 1945. After returning from the service he engaged in his lifelong love of farming and ranching which he did until the time of his death. Mr. Castor married Betty Ford in Greeley, CO on February 14, 1950. He was a life member of the BPOE Lodge 1143, Fort Morgan. He was also a member of the VFW Post 2551, Fort Morgan. Mr. Castor enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. His passion was farming and ranching which he also enjoyed researching and reading about. He also enjoyed going to cattle and land auctions. He is survived by two daughters, Lori Null of Fort Morgan, and Mona Castor of Greeley; two sons, Wade Castor and Todd Castor, both of Weldona; his brother, Ronald Castor of Palmer, Alaska; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Castor and his parents. A memorial service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at the BPOE Lodge 1143, 430 State St., Fort Morgan with Military Honors by the VFW Post 2551. Services will conclude at the lodge. There has been cremation. Friends may make memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society in care of the Heer & Dahl Mortuary, 225 E. Platte Ave., Fort Morgan, CO 80701.
