Obituary

Delbert Griffith, 71, life-long Fort Morgan resident, died Saturday evening at the Colorado Plains Medical Center following a courageous battle with Mesothelioma Cancer. He was born September 26, 1938 in Fort Morgan to Virgil and Eva Mae Griffith. He started working for the Great Western Sugar Company, now known as Western Sugar Company, on April 1, 1963 and retired May 31, 2002. He was a life member of the First Christian Church in Fort Morgan, a member of the Fort Morgan Saddle Club, the Elk's Lodge #1143 and the Paint Horse Association. Delbert loved horses, team roping, and playing golf. He is survived by his wife, Sis, of 47 years, and his son, Scott Griffith, both of Fort Morgan, his daughter, Mickey McCarter, of Pearce, AZ and his most cherished gifts, his grandchildren, Madison Griffith and Zachary McCarter. He is also survived by his brother, Harold Griffith, of Fort Morgan and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father, Merle Bentley. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-7PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:30AM at the First Christian Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fort Morgan Saddle Club, the Fort Morgan Fire Department, or to the First Christian Church, in care of the Heer & Dahl Mortuaries, 225 E. Platte Ave., Fort Morgan, CO., 80701.
