Delores "Dee" Eileen Simeone, expert pie maker and fan of going barefoot, Andrea Bocelli, rhubarb and lilacs, and following national politics, passed away in her sleep at home in Brush, CO on May 25, 2020. It was just as she wished, peacefully, at home, in her bed, with her cat. She was 80 and proud that she still had her own teeth, creamy complexion, and nary a grey hair.  A loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, Dee was was known for her sharp wit and eye for beauty, as well as her lemon meringue pie, effortless bouquets, and propensity to worry more about others than herself.  An avid baker, she proclaimed that the true measure of the art form was in a perfect pie crust.

A life-long resident of the eastern plains of Colorado, she was a descendant of German farmers who immigrated to the area from Norka, Russia. Born March 22, 1940 to Kathryn (Troudt) and David Sichwart in Fort Morgan, CO.  Dee was the second of three daughters.  That German temperament, which she often referred to as 'mean old German" meant she could be stubborn and high tempered, but mostly it helped her endure hardship and heartbreak.

In the late 1950s, while attending Fort Morgan High School, she worked as a carhop waitress at the local A&W where she delivered a root beer float to Charles M. Hamann, also of Fort Morgan. Soon after her graduation in 1958, they married and settled in a modest house and had two daughters. There, in a kitchen with avocado green appliances, she became known for her ability to bake, cook, entertain, and make a home where guests felt welcomed and special.  Those passions grew to include antique collecting, gardening, and flower arranging.

After her first marriage ended, Dee married Bill Simeone of Brush, CO who had a mutual passion for cooking and entertaining family and friends. Bill shared his joy for golf and fishing and included Dee in his large circle of friends and family.  Eventually, they moved to Brush to a house with yet another avocado green kitchen. Together, with Dee's decorating and baking talents and Bill's gift for maintaining golf-course-worthy lawn, they created a home.  A sanctuary filled with personal touches and sentimental possessions - a place to steal sweets from the counter and settle in chairs for afternoon naps. Dee will be forever remembered in this place of peace and comfort.

Outside of Brush, Dee is survived by daughters Angela (Tim) Wagner of Keller, TX and Crystal (Arvind) Lal of Cheverly, MD and grandchildren Abigail (Benford) Lal and Nicholas Lal of Cheverly, MD. She is survived by sister Joann (Mike) O'Leary of Boise, ID and is predeceased by Carol (SJ) Martin of Boise, ID.She leaves behind her husband Bill, and sister-in law Betty (Mel)) Washburn of Brush, CO. Rick ( Janet) Healy of Provo, UT, Mike (Tammy) Healy, of Lehi, UT, Regina DeBoise of Coledonia, WI,  Ronald Simeone, Rob Simeone or Arvada, CO, Jacquin (Jason) Roger of Lake Jackson, TX;   20 grandchildren, and 32 great grandchildren.

A celebration of Delores' life will be held at a later date.  Inurnment will be in Memory Gardens in Fort Morgan.
