Deloris Elaine Carpenter (Comer) passed away on May 16th at Fairacres Manor in Greeley, Colorado at the age of 82.  She was born in Big Springs, Nebraska on June 23rd, 1941 to Donald and Helen Comer, the second daughter in a family with three daughters and three sons, one of whom passed as a young child.  Dee would spend her childhood in and near Imperial, Chase County, Nebraska, which she would quickly relate to others throughout her life.  Though she truly loved her rural upbringing and being a vitally important, older daughter on a farm, she and her family would arrive in Fort Morgan in time for Dee to spend a year at the high school before graduating with the Class of 1958.  Shortly thereafter she would attend Barnes Business College in Denver, acquiring the professional skills that would serve her well for the rest of her life.  By September 20th, 1962 she would marry the love of her life, Gerald (Jerry), and begin their 62 years together in their home on a dryland farm north of Jackson Reservoir.  Three sons would follow, Tim, Dan and Kirk. By 1970 their family would leave the early friendships they had formed in the area for a span of time in the area of Houston, Texas, where Dee would begin a career in real estate that she would return to later in life.  By 1973, Dee, Jerry and their family would return to the area, first in Wiggins, then Fort Morgan, where they would eventually settle in as managers of the Fort Morgan Municipal Airport, and would begin Carpenter Flying Service.  Using her well-developed business acumen in the flying service, Dee would continue her life as a devoted wife and mother. As the 1980s came to an end the Carpenters moved into a new endeavor, Dent Masters of Greeley, Colorado, which would see them through from 1991 through early 2005.  By this time, a burgeoning family including grandchildren and her many friendships found Dee returning to real estate work in Morgan County while still cultivating her love of home and gardening.  Always energetic and there for family in all things, Dee would also continue the many associations and leadership positions she chose throughout life, including a designation as a Master Gardener.  Dee loved belonging to groups such as her early T.O.P.S. chapter in Orchard, the CWAAA, Morgan County Board of Realtors, Morgan County FLIC and her group of friends in the gardening club.  Dee could be found at football games, musicals, wrestling matches, baseball and basketball games, dance recitals, scouting events, graduations, and weddings...anywhere her grandkids were, there was Dee. There for celebrations, and there to help her family and friends.

Dee is preceded in death by siblings David Comer, Donna Comer, Carl Comer, Karen Schlundt, and parents Helen Comer and Donald Comer.  She is survived by her husband Jerry, son Tim (Beth) Carpenter, Dan (Karen) Carpenter, and Kirk Carpenter, all of Fort Morgan, along with two granddaughters and five grandsons:  Taylor, Zach (Allison Mervau), Kaitlin (Tyler) Duke, Jay (Amanda), Cody (Lish Gutierrez), Colton (Tahais), Kyla (Alex Atwood). She also is survived by her brother, Kenny Comer, and two sisters-in-law, Shirley Griffee, and Karen Brown, along with the many other members of her extended family whom she loved and adored.

A service will be conducted at the Immanuel Evangelical Church, 318 West Seventh Avenue in Fort Morgan on Friday, May 24th, 2024, at 11 a.m.  A reception will follow immediately in the fellowship hall.  A private inurnment will be held for the family at the Serenity Falls Columbarium.  Anyone wishing to make a memorial gift benefiting Alzheimer's care may do so through the Memory Care (Homestead) Wing at Fairacres Manor, 1700 18th Ave., Greeley CO 80631.
